AGTrust: Helping Train Future Young Leaders for Ministry in the Pulpit and the Marketplace

As an AGTrust partner, you are helping us invest in training young people, at the 17 AG colleges and universities, who will passionately proclaim the Pentecostal distinctive in the pulpit and marketplace.

Your monthly support of AGTrust enables us to provide AG college and university students with four types of annual scholarships and grants: the J. Robert Ashcroft Scholarship, the Making THE Difference Scholarship, the Ralph Riggs Scholarship and the AG Next Generation Grant.

Because of your generosity, AGTrust has awarded 1,299 scholarships and grants totaling over $3.4 million during our first decade (2008-2018).

Today we're announcing the recipients for the 2018-2019 J. Robert Ashcroft National Youth Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to three outstanding high school graduates who plan to attend an AG college or university. The recipients are:

Peyton Baldwin

Elizabeth, Colorado

Evangel University, Springfield, Mo.

$8,000

Peyton Baldwin, daughter of Randy and June Baldwin, is focused on preparing for a future in both Intercultural Studies and English Education.

"At the age of 14, God gave me the desire to go overseas and teach English to students. I believe it will be a wonderful opportunity for me in the future to be able to share something that is essential to their education and also allow me to influence their lives for Christ.

"In order to attend Evangel, I asked God to help me financially. When I received the Ashcroft scholarship, He seemed to be saying, 'Evangel is where I need you to be, now go.'"

Alexa DeSha

Jefferson City, Missouri

Evangel University, Springfield, Mo.

$4,000

Alexa DeSha, daughter of Neil and Lisa DeSha, is pursuing a degree in biology with hopes of becoming a pediatrician.

"I have known for a long time I wanted to be in the medical field. I feel God has called me to eventually participate in medical missions trips. I know there are many students with God-given abilities that are deserving of this scholarship. I feel honored to have been chosen to receive it!"

Jo Dorsett

Nixa, Missouri

Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU), Waxahachie, Texas

$2,000

Jo Dorsett, daughter of Dave and Gayle Dorsett, plans to double major at SAGU in the areas of Family Ministry and Crisis Counseling.

"In 2007, I felt God was calling me to work with children in African villages. I've looked at ways I can bring relief to people in need where I am now, all the while staying true to my calling."

Jo feels that the education she will receive at SAGU will be a useful tool in her efforts to bring hope to children in Africa.

This AGTrust scholarship program honors the memory of Dr. J. Robert Ashcroft (1912-1995), a longtime educator and leader in the Assemblies of God and president of four Assemblies of God colleges. It is funded by the Assemblies of God Trust and sponsored by the Alliance for AG Higher Education and National Youth Offices at the Assemblies of God National Leadership and Resource Center in Springfield, Mo.
