Helping People Find Hope and Their Destination through a Relationship with Jesus Christ
Destination Church
Hopewell, Virginia
"Thank you, AGTrust, for partnering with us! Since 2011, we have launched Destination Church and two more campus churches with the help of AGTrust Matching Funds and the support of The Church Multiplication Network (CMN)."
Pastors Bryan and Kelly Briggs and their 18-member Dream Team launched Destination Church in February 2011, with over 450 people attending the first service at Southpark Regal Cinema in Colonial Heights, Virginia. The AGTrust Matching Funds helped them purchase equipment and pay rent for the meeting place.
"Through God's amazing grace, that first number of 450 people only continued to increase," Pastor Bryan says. Later, the growing congregation relocated to a permanent facility in nearby Hopewell, Virginia.
Thousands of people have come to Christ through the ministry of Destination Church in Hopewell, Va., since Bryan and Kelly Briggs and their 18-member Dream Team opened its doors in 2011.
From the beginning, Destination Church focused on reaching the unchurched with the gospel through the passion and joy of their Sunday services. This led to immediate growth and hundreds committing their life to Christ.
By November 2013, Destination had replenished the initial Matching Funds they received, making them what CMN calls a Champion Church.
"Investing in other churches that are planting is important to us," Pastor Bryan says. "That is why replenishing the Matching Funds was a priority. We can fully trust that as we give back to AGTrust, we are a part of helping other churches across the nation open their doors to their communities."
Nearly 600 people serve as Dream Teamers at Destination, helping to carry out the vision and mission of the Church.
Today, thousands of people call Destination Church home.
"To put it simply, we believe the greatest spiritual need of Hopewell and the surrounding Richmond area is for people to know Jesus. The hope in Hopewell seems to be lost, but we know that Jesus is the Giver of that hope," Pastor Bryan says.
Nearly 600 people serve on the Dream Team at Destination Church, and the church staff members help develop and empower them to help carry out the mission of the church. The Dream Teamers serve, give financially every month to the church, and are committed to grow in relationship with God and other people.
The ultimate goal at Destination Church in Hopewell, Virginia, is to help people find hope and their destination through a relationship with Jesus
Destination Church has hosted many outreaches, everything from Trunk-or-Treats to dropping Easter eggs from a helicopter, to giving thousands of people Chick-fil-A on a Sunday. They want to help people feel celebrated, not tolerated, and their ultimate goal is to help people find hope and their destination through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, Pastor Bryan sensed God saying to him, "Take care of your people, the Dream Teamers first. If you take care of them, they will grow stronger and take care of everybody else, and the church will survive and thrive."
Trunk or Treat is one of many community outreaches Destination has done. They want people to feel celebrated and to introduce them to the hope they can find in Jesus.
THANK YOU for helping AGTrust and CMN to plant and equip healthy churches like Destination Church in every community of America. A total of 567 church plants across America are reaching people for Christ today because of your support.
