Training Young Leaders:
Making THE Difference for a Future Missionary
Because of your faithful giving, AGTrust was able to award a total of $123,000 in Making THE Difference (MTD) Scholarships in fall 2015 to 119 students — representing the 17 Assemblies of God colleges and universities located across the United States.
Holly Turlington from Columbia, South Carolina, is one of the 119 MTD recipients. AGTrust awards these scholarships designed to "make THE difference" for students like Holly. According to college administrators, even a smaller scholarship can often make the difference whether or not a student enrolls or continues their studies at an Assemblies of God university.
"I would love to thank AGTrust donors for helping me to achieve my goal to become a full-time missionary." Holly says.
During her freshman year in high school, Holly made up her mind to pursue college studies at Southeastern. Her dream became a reality this past semester.
Holly is focusing her studies on an elementary education major with a minor in missions. "I love working with children, so by majoring in education, I naturally have an open door to influencing young lives with the love of Jesus. The Making THE Difference scholarship will assist me in gaining the resources needed to become a great teacher." Holly says.
A South Carolina native, Holly was raised in a God-focused home and felt the call to missions and education at a very early age. She expanded her leadership skills by embracing opportunities in school and in her youth group.
"Since I came to Southeastern, Jesus has opened many doors for me to love His people," Holly says. Currently, she serves with a ministry to families in the neighboring, impoverished suburb of Bartow where, she says, "I have the best time loving on babies and their mothers."
Holly plans to participate in a 3-week missions trip, sponsored by Southeastern, to Tanzania, East Africa, to help build an elementary school and do hut-to-hut ministry.
